We’ve so far looked at a few different versions of CardFive card design software, Classic, Lite XL and Premier. The next version of CardFive we’re going to look at is CardFive Vision Professional, the version that is designed for high end users that need extra features.
The extra features included in CardFive Professional include support for multiple separate logins, enabling you to control access level for the users, ability to select cards to print from the database based on automatic settings or user-configured conditions (like cards with a previous expiry date that’s due).
Another important aspect of CardFive Professional is its enhanced support for external databases. It is fully ODBC compliant, meaning that you can connect it directly to an existing database to save on replicating data.
CardFive Professional is also capable of controlling contactless smart card encoding and processing biometric information, making CardFive Professional the best choice for people with particularly demanding technological requirements.

In addition to the ID Manager range of card design software, ID Management Systems also now supply NFive’s CardFive range. We’ve previously looked at CardFive Vision Classic and CardFive Vision Lite XL and today we’re going to look at the next product in the range, CardFive Vision Premier.
In addition to all the features of Classic and Vision Lite XL, like their intuitive card design system which is capable of administering double-sided card designs and magnetic stripe encoding, CardFive Vision Premier also includes a range of features like contact smart card encoding and a fully features internal database, capable of importing information as CSV, XLS and TXT formats.

The simplest version of CardFive is called CardFive Classic. It’s a very basic piece of software and it isn’t suitable for people with big or complicated requirements for ID cards, nor does it have any kind of database capability, but it is cheap, user friendly and a good starting point for people with low volume requirements for plastic card printing.

Here at ID Management Systems, we primarily supply our own ID Manager Pro software, which we know very well and have supplied and supported with many of our customers for years. We’ve recently added another card design software package to our catalogue, CardFive by NFive.
CardFive is a very useful range of software, designed to work with lots of different plastic card printers and available in versions to suit requirements all the way from the simplest need for a couple of cards, up to ODBC compliant databases that can support tens of thousands of records and encoding that covers magnetic stripe and both contact and contactless smart cards.
The CardFive range includes four different products that we’ll discuss in more detail later and they’re all supplied on the innovative KeyFive platform that means that you just need one dongle to deliver and install the software and act as the security key.

A printer like an Evolis Pebble 4 or a Magicard Rio Pro is a good choice if your business regularly needs to produce hundreds of cards and if you combine it with powerful software like ID Manager Pro or Card Five Vision Professional, it’ll give you the database capabilities to administer large volumes of cards. But what if you need to administer the production across lots of locations and make sure that everyone is working from the same data?
ID Manager Pro and Card Five Vision Professional are both available as Net licensed versions, which means that you can have multiple terminals in different locations connected using your LAN or WAN all working off the same central database, located on your server. If it’s just a couple of places that you need to cover then standard licenses can be suitable, but if you’ve got a lot of places that need access then the Net version is usually cheaper and easier to administer.
Just think how many cards you can produce, with five or ten terminals all able to work from you central database, all connected to one of more plastic card printer.
