For And Against National Identity Cards

The debate surrounding National Identity cards still rumbles on. Whether to make them voluntary or to insist that they should be compulsory, what information will be carried on them and is this just the beginning of something more sinister are all subjects that continue to be discussed. Although there is a great deal of opposition to National ID cards, more and more businesses and groups are finding that ID cards are becoming an accepted part of our working lives – and even part of our leisure lives.

Here at ID Management Systems we have been providing the software, hardware and accessories for producing plastic cards, including ID card printers, for a number of years. We have customers who are SMEs and huge bodies like the DVLA and we have noticed that the sort of enterprises using these types of cards has become much more diverse in recent years. Many employers now issue ID cards as a matter of course to all employees and visitors to their premises. A few years ago it would only have been to employees who were working outside the main premises calling on people at home, for instance meter readers or council workers, who would have any form of employer’s identity card.

The equipment and ID card software needed to produce these plastic cards is affordable and simple to use. As it only takes moments to produce a card once the initial set up has been done they are being used far more widely, for instance as club membership passes. They may be just what you need.
