Teslin CR80 Cards - High Usage and UV Protected – Pack of 100

What is Teslin® substrate made of?

Teslin substrate looks like regular paper, but it’s actually a synthetic paper material made out of polyolefins and silica. Iit as “a single-layer, microporous material” that is lightweight and durable.

How do you create a Teslin® card?

Teslin cards have two essential parts: a Teslin substrate insert and a laminating pouch. These two pieces combine to create an incredibly sturdy and long-lasting card. While Teslinsubstrate is actually waterproof, tear-resistant and durable without lamination, its microporous nature allows it to bond tightly with the laminate, creating a card that is even more resistant to fading, bending and cracking.

What are the benefits of using Teslin® substrate?

While PVC is arguably the most common identification card material, Teslin substrate performs differently in a number of ways:

  • Durability: Teslin cards are more durable than PVC cards in a variety of ways. A series of laboratory tests showed that a laminated Teslin card was more resistant to bends and folds, required more force to be broken apart and stood up to surface wear and tear better than a PVC card.
  • Resistance to fading: As the animation below shows, Teslin cards are far more resistant to fading than PVC cards. After 500 hours of UV exposure, the Teslin card did experience some color loss; however, the images on the PVC card were completely indecipherable.
  • Versatility: Standard PVC cards are offered in a limited selection of sizes. However, Teslin badges and cards can be offered in more shapes and sizes than PVC cards. Creating oversized credentials or a custom shape for an event or office is simple with Teslin substrate.
  • Environmentally friendly: PVC isn’t the most environmentally friendly material, as it takes a lot of energy to produce and is rarely recycled. Teslin substrate, on the other hand, is very easy on the environment. According to PPG industries, the manufacturer of Teslin substrate, it is non-toxic and doesn’t contribute to deforestation. When incinerated, Teslin substrate produces only water, carbon dioxide and a clean ash, releasing no harmful chemicals. Teslin substrate can be recycled, with the recycled product often used for things like signs and park benches.
